Chances are you are here because you are feeling like your life has gotten out of your control. I know how awful it feels when life events and responsibilities overwhelm your dreams. Explore What's Next was created to respond to your individual needs to provide relief from emotional pain with effective, practical and long lasting results.
At Explore What's Next the personal experience and professional expertise of our therapists, with your knowledge of yourself and motivation, combines to address the stresses that threaten to engulf you. My approach is collaborative to maximize your counseling experience. I create a comfortable place for you in a style that is compassionate, direct, and non-judgmental.
I value irreverence, enjoy a good sense of humor and believe laughter has a healing power all its own. Never bored, I view life as a gift, at times a burden to the receiver, but always rich.
My life experiences offered me the opportunity to understand what it’s like to hurt, physically and emotionally. In my twenties I was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease that relapsed throughout my adulthood.
While treatable, the cure was often as hard to bear as the disease. Later I was diagnosed with scleroderma, a chronic connective tissue disease. Despite these and other adventures, I have an optimistic outlook that I attribute to a blessedly happy temperament, an abiding spirituality and a supportive, loving family.
Today I enjoy focusing exclusively on my private practice clients, speaking and consulting business. I absolutely love the rewards and challenges of helping people regain a sense of control and joy in their lives.
I am a Clinical Psychologist working in Amherst, New York, licensed in New York State. I earned a B.A. from the University of Kansas and my Masters and Doctorate degrees from the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY.
My career includes positions at:
• Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan
• The Anxiety and Depression Out-patient Clinic at the New York
Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center
• The Substance Abuse/Dual Diagnosis Rehabilitation Unit
• Coordinator for Community Out-Patient Services
• Director of the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program at
Erie County Medical Center.
• Executive Director of the Behavioral Healthcare Network, Inc.
That’s me in a nutshell. If Explore What's Next has the kind of therapists you would like to work with, if you have any questions or would like to learn more, please give us a call, 716.308.6683, or write. We can work together to help you move forward and explore what’s next for you!
